Discount Taylor 1350J Large Profile Mechanical Scale in Chrome

I've used the Taylor 1350J Mechanical Scale for almost three years, and have found it to be a reliable product and an excellent value. I only use mine on a hard, flat and level surface: either my tiled bathroom floor or the hardwood floor in my dressing area. I also weigh myself under the same conditions each time, so that my readings will always be comparable ... in other words, at the same time of day and wearing the same garments. A person's weight fluctuates day to day depending upon their fluid levels and other factors, so I'm unconcerned about whether I weigh exactly 188 pounds or 189 pounds. Using the colored indicator arrows at the top of the bezel, I just check to make sure that my weight is always within the same general range.

Of course it's important to make sure that the scale is balanced to zero before you step on it; I find the 1350J very easy to adjust, so that's not a problem. The only issue I have experienced with this product is the chrome frame, which after all these months is beginning to show little specks of rust from being exposured to moisture from the shower. This damage might have been avoided if I had not stored the scales in the bathroom and closed the door when showering, so I have to take the responsibility for the wear and tear I'm seeing.

I'm currently thinking of buying another scale and moving this one into the guest room, and have been looking at other brands and designs. However, my research has confirmed my perception of the Taylor 1350J as a superior scale in its price range, and so I'm definitely leaning toward choosing it again.Get more detail about Taylor 1350J Large Profile Mechanical Scale in Chrome.

Cheapest Polar RS800CX Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Story of three Polars:
This is my third Polar. The first one I had was a s510. It was great until it lost two buttons somehow during the swim portion of a triathlon. No idea how that happened, but the end result was that salt water got into the unit and ruined it.

I replaced the s510 with an s725x special edition (the one with the chrome finish). Loved it too - until it started to flake out. It wouldn't let me update the user settings and no longer shows the date. I decided to make that my permanent bike computer and took the opportunity to upgrade to the RS800cx.

I love the RS800cx's contoured, sleek design. Much better than its predecessors' big, chunky and buly block style. Again, I love Polar devices when they work. I love uploading my data to the training software via the infrared sensor. I like visually tracking my zones, HR, altitude, pace, etc. I also liked seeing my routes on Google Earth - very cool! However, after 3 months, I noted significant condensation under the lens. That was followed by the battery going dead. It's under warranty, so I sent it in. After 3 weeks, it came back with no water and a fresh battery. No more than two weeks later, two buttons fell off. I sent it back, waited for another 3 weeks and am using it again. However this time, the main button doesn't like to work. This was evident immediately upon getting back from Polar and before I started using it again. It's usable, but more frequently than not I have to press the red button #enter or start# several times to get it to work. I'm anxious about sending it back yet again because I don't want to spend the money on shipping for the 3rd time and I'm worried about what will fall off or not work when it returns from the factory.

I should note that I'm not rough with these devices. I swim, bike, run and lift. I don't wrestle, work construction or do anything that would cause unusual wear and tear on the product.

A friend of mine bought the Garmin Forerunner 305 this past summer for his Ironman training. He loves it and has had no issues with it. One of the cool things about the Garmin is that you can detach it from the wristband and attach it to your bike mount in a "quick release" fashion and vice versa. The other cool thing is that it's currently $167.99 on Amazon vs. the RS800cx which is currently $469.90. If I'm reading it all correctly, that's equally equipped with GPS, HR, software and online mapping. If I wasn't already invested in the Polar with the GPS, I'd switch to the Garmin. The biggest drawback that I can see with the Garmin is that it's big and chunky. Not something I'd wear to work, like I can with my Polar.

This watch is so sleek, the band really makes this watch stand out. Its sharp looking for sure. I like how the watch has so meany features. Just ont eh face of the watch it tells you the time, day, and date. It also has military time which is conveinent. You can put two different time zones in it as well. The one thing about the pedometer I dont like is it doesnt seem very accurate, but I didnt buy it for that anyway.Get more detail about Timex Ironman TK091 Women's Sleek Fitness Tracker Watch.

Purchase Biggest Loser 5749BL Body Fat and Body Water Scale

I asked for this for Christmas because I was intrigued by the extra features like fat % and water % as well as optimal weight. I am not a super-fit person but I am thin and do work out a few days a week. The scale is pretty cool looking and the directions are pretty thorough. It took me a couple of tries to set up my program but I think that was mainly from my being so excited that I didn't fully read the directions for each step. I did have a hard time figuring out how to pull up my program so I could 'weigh in' but eventually figured it out. The instructions may have had this info in it, but again, I took the hard way.

The only complaint I have is that it gives you all this info but doesn't really tell you what it should be. Some of the readings like water and fat will tell you if you are high, low, optimal, etc but doesn't give you a target so I just googled it and found the optimal numbers for those.

This is a really cool scale and I am very pleased with it. I would recommend it to anyone.Get more detail about Biggest Loser 5749BL Body Fat and Body Water Scale.

Cheap Suunto Dual Heart Rate Belt

After workouts, I typically run the analysis on the Firstbeate ATHLETE software. Errors were getting as high as 50% after each workout. I also noticed that the rubber part of the electrodes around the heart rate sensor (the oval shape) decreased in height from wearing it over 1 year. This made it harder to detect my HR, thus more errors. With this new Suunto Dual HR strap, errors are always less than 10%, just as it was when I first used the original comfort belt.

I could have gotten away with replacing the Suunto strap alone for about $35 dollars Suunto Comfort Strap as I had hoped having the most up to date Suunto HR strap would benefit me more. It's basically the same as the Comfort strap, with the addition of the ANT/Coded feature, which blocks other HR frequencies from both types. Get more detail about Suunto Dual Heart Rate Belt.

Buying Mio Drive Petite Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch

After 6 months or so, the stop watch timer won't start (found this out at the beginning of a 5K). As a runner, losing this functionality makes the watch virtually useless to me for training and racing. The heart rate readout takes a long time to kick in, so I don't even bother with it.

Basically, it's now a sporty looking timepeice I sometimes wear when I'm dressed casually--not something I use to work out with, which was why I originally bought the watch. Get more detail about Mio Drive Petite Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch.

Buy BACTRACK Breathalyzer (Polished Black)

At first I was skeptical, but after learning how to use it, I don't go out without it. The key is you must wait 15 or so minutes AFTER your last drink, or it will give you inconsistent results. Too soon after and the alcohol won't be in your lungs, or there may be a drop right on your tongue which sends the reading too low or high. This is in the instruction booklet which I'm surprised I actually opened.

Anyway - this has become a great conversation point at bars. I've had plenty of people come up to me and ask to try it. It turns into a nice social item for getting to know people who you would have never met before. It also keeps me in check as I get close to leaving any bar. This isnt the cure to DUI's or dangerous drivers, but it certainly helps. Get more detail about BACTRACK Breathalyzer (Polished Black).

Purchase SIGMA PC15 Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Sigma Sport, a German Company is producing very good bike computers which I and my family used to equip our bicycles with. 2 years ago I bought a HRM Sigma balance with a few essential features. I was not satified with the touch sensors arraged on a ring around the display, because I did not really feel when it was taking the finger push. Another flaw I discovered that the data link between the breast strap and the watch failed to work occationally without having any glue why. Due to a report in a bike magazine I decided to buy this PC 15. On this HRM the buttons are much better to push and clearly to recognize but I find the menu for the features that you can choose to be displayed confusing and not very easy to find. Again I discovered that the Data link failed to work sometimes for a couple of minutes and I have no read-out. Why I cannot tell. The spot under the sensors were always wet from my sweat. I think this is a general Sigma manufacturing flaw. I have sent the PC 15 to Sigma to have it checked. They denied any discrepancy but they have sent me a new breast band(?)
Loosing data while you were running, biking or walking messes up the total results and the end of the training.Get more detail about SIGMA PC15 Heart Rate Monitor Watch.

Order Tanita UM080 Scale with Body Fat and Body Water Monitor

I had a completely dissapointing experience with TANITA. The feature to register your current age, height, and sex is only to calculate the IMC, fat and water percentage, but this scale doesn't store anything. You've got to register manually in a workbook using Excel or something like that to keep track and follow your improvement. My wife was angry because she could not retrived her last reading at all. Therefore I was convinced that it was't a good idea after all.Get more detail about Tanita UM080 Scale with Body Fat and Body Water Monitor.

Where To Buy Escali High Capacity Large Display Bathroom Scale (400lb/180kg)

I am very happy with this scale. It gives the same reading no matter how often you step on and off. The last electronic scale I had required numerous weighings until you got the same reading at least three times in a row. I've checked it against my doctor's scales, and it is within one pound of his. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because of it's slightly slippery and rounded surface. I don't really feel unsafe using it, just a bit uncomfortable.Get more detail about Escali High Capacity Large Display Bathroom Scale (400lb/180kg).

Shop For Oregon Scientific PE828 Pedometer with Calorie Counter

Does everything it says and for the right price. Just be careful of the panic alarm - when I opened the package it was late at night and everyone in my house was asleep... the pin that slides in to stop the alarm was not in place so when I turned it on it instantly started its ear-piercing alarm and nearly woke the house. Bowflex Fit Trainer Plus Heart Rate Monitor and Pedometer Watch (Regular)

There is much to like about this pedometer. It is priced reasonably for the amount of functiopnality and once you get the stride settings correct, it does a good job of tracking distance. Also, the heart rate montitor seems to be very accurate. However, I have one major issue. To me, it is too complicated to reset and figure out what you are doing. I need to bring the instructions with me each time. In other words, it is not intuitive or particularly user friendly. I would gladly sacrifice 20% of the functionality for ease-of-use.
