This scale would have received 5 stars IF it had come with working batteries. The enclosed batteries did not function - one had even leaked and rusted. Fortunately they were packaged separately and did not damage the scale. However, amazon.com immediately resolved the battery problem for me. Thank you, amazon! As far as the scale goes, it is very attractive and appears to be very accurate. I appreciate that you do not have to set it to "0" each time you weigh yourself. The low profile, slim styling is just right for the commode area in my master bath. The scale hugs the ceramic tile and performs beautifully. I like that it has an understated look; not showy like many of the scales. The display is oversized and backlit - also remains on for 10 seconds. This is a welcome replacement for my 20 year old Sears "electronic" scale! I chose the Escali brand based on Consumer Reports placing it in the top three brands to consider.
