After using this scale every day for about 15 months, I have a pretty good idea of its advantages and limitations. Although this scale is fairly accurate, I found that my results differed greatly depending on how I was standing on it.
Movement of even 1/2 an inch could cause the weight to vary by a pound or more, while the most consistent and accurate results were obtained by making sure I was centered directly over the scale by balancing on one foot (my foot placed horizontally just next to the 'Save/Recall' button). Not exactly convenient, though I did eventually find a two-foot position that usually jived with the one-foot balancing position.
Unfortunately, I still found myself double-checking the two-foot results by switching to the one-foot, until I was able to find consistent agreement between the two. Most mornings this resulted in a ritual that varied between a half-a-minute and five, depending on how temperamental the scale was being. I have been so picky about getting consistent results because I am using this scale for tracking weight loss/gain, recording each day's results in a fitness journal.
It took me about a year, but eventually I just got sick of the rigmarole of fighting to get consistent and accurate results with the scale (accuracy being the lesser of the two problems) and so I began to shop around, finally settling on the following scale after reading reviews of its quality, consistency, and the manufacturer's exemplary customer service: EatSmart Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and Oversize Platform, Silver. My experience with the new scale has so far been fantastic, with wonderful consistency and accuracy. It's also much better looking.
On a separate note, for those who are trying to keep consistent & objective track of their bodyweight, you will typically achieve the best results if you weigh at the same time each day. The best time is probably in the morning, directly after waking and using the bathroom, since hydration and abdominal content (if you catch my drift) will usually be more consistent at this point than at any other.
I mention this since knowing this has made it easier to get consistent, objective weights and chart where my weight is trending. It has also made me more aware of how I react at night and in the morning to what I eat throughout the day, but especially to what I take in towards the evening and just before I go to bed.Get more detail about Weight Watchers WW-11D Portable Precision Electronic Scale.
