I bought this on a whim. I thought it would be nice to own a thermometer that hadn't been in a rear end. It is unpredictable. Some days it is accurate, some days it isn't. I tried it on my little girl and on average, had to take her temp 3 times before I got a good reading. Then, I still ended up taking a rectal temp just to verify. I found I had the best results when using it in my mouth, but the design and shape activates my gag reflex. I wouldn't even consider putting it in my little girls mouth.
