The scale platform is small. I wear size 9 in female shoes and I can just fit my feet onto the scale. Your weight can change in a matter of seconds but so far I've only notice a 0.4lb difference at most. Basically it's not a high tech expensive scale but I like it because it wasn't expensive, it is reasonably accurate and it gets the job done. I have bought scales that cost a bit more and have the same drawbacks (small platform with slightly fluctuating readings). If you're not going to spend more than $30 for a scale I doubt you will find something much better because This seems like the standard for this price range.
