Having used it for a couple months, let me give the pros and cons.

The watch itself: love it, it's comfortable and functional. I highly recommend the watch.

The foot pod: not as much of a fan. I have a garmin forerunner GPS unit I like a lot more. The foot pod has to be calibrated to your stride, and if you change stride, it will become inaccurate. I prefer the GPS unit in terms of accuracy.

The bike pod: I don't have a bike yet but I hope to use this in the future.

One thing that really bugs me about this is the heart rate belt. It has memory built in to it. I really just wanted to use it to see my heart rate on the watch, but it is also known as a memory belt, which means it stores past data. What sucks, is that when it is full, it starts BEEPING EVERY 3 SECONDS AND WON'T SHUT UP. And the only way to make it stop is to connect it to your PC and download the data.

When you're out for a run, or if you're away from your PC, or just too busy to download the damn data from it, the beeping is maddening. I went back to using my garmin, the HR number is smaller and harder to see, but at least it doesn't constantly beep and annoy the hell out of me.

This is a very nice looking unit and worked well for close to a year. I stepped on one day and got nothing so I bought 2 new batteries (CR2032). From then on all I can get are very low readings such as 8.6 lbs. I followed the unit directions stating to step on, then off, then back on to reset the unit any time the unit has been moved. I then thought maybe it had changed to kg, even though that would still be too low. It has a button on the back to switch, that wasn't it. Searching the internet I see I am not alone.

Taylor has a lifetime warranty...if you want to find or buy a box for it, pack it up, go to the post office line and pay to ship it to New Mexico. For the price-point of buying a new, DIFFERENT brand (trying Heath Meter this time), its not worth the hassle for me. I am very disappointed b/c I did really like the styling and very low profile. It allowed the toilet door to swing over the unit so it could be placed in the toilet room.

EDIT: Well, I guess all it took is to take the time to post a review of this product to get it to work! Here is what I did (per instructions found on the web). Take batteries out, stand on scale for 7 seconds, get off, put batteries back in, step back on and if display shows anything step right back off, then step back on to weigh myself. As I mentioned above this seemed to work except that the 2nd digit was now blank. I kept walking by over the next hour or so and stepping on it. Amazingly at some point the middle digit magically reappeared! I don't know what happened. I changed the battery in this thing months ago and have had bad too low readouts ever since. I only tried the 7 sec method the day I wrote this review. The frustration is what drove me to write the review. I had to return the first unit because neither of the supplied cuffs (small, to 12" and large) would inflate. The replacement unit inflated both cuffs correctly.

Our family has been using and storing readings in the unit for several weeks now; but I had an interesting experience with the unit yesterday.

We had a power outage yesterday that lasted about 14 hours. The unit was on our kitchen table with the A/C adapter plugged into it and its batteries were installed.

When the power went out, all the stored readings in the unit along with current date and time were lost. What is the purpose of having batteries installed in the unit if the data is lost when the power goes out?

Who ever designed the electronics in this unit was not thinking!

I believe there is a workaround:

First, don't leave the A/C adapter plugged into the unit. Only plug in the A/C adapter, with its power "on," when you're gonna used the unit. After you're done with the reading, remove the A/C adapter. With this workaround, the batteries should keep the data stored.

Next, connect the unit to your computer to download the readings weekly. This way, if there is a loss of data, it will only be for a few days.

I've enjoyed using the unit....it's very comfortable to use and the pressure on the arm during the readings is not unpleasant. Also, the readings appear to be consistent with my readings from two other sources: a Samsung wrist blood pressure device I use at work and the blood pressure machine at my local Walmart pharmacy.

If Samsung has resolved the loss of data problem in another model, then I would recommend that you buy that model.

I've had the 4100ws for about a year, and am very pleased with it. The sound quality is very good, and it eliminates some (but not all) background noise. I have found it to be an outstanding teaching tool. The recording function is very easy to use, and the IR transfer works well. IR transfer to a desktop works only on windows XP at this point, which is frustrating for us mac users. You will need access to an XP machine to pull the recorded clips off. I often use the clips in presentations. This works very well, but you need to know that regular computer speakers won't be adequate. On normal speakers, the clips won't sound much like the murmur you are trying to present. I paired mine with a Bose sound dock, and the murmurs sound quite real when played on that. This is a GREAT way to teach med students, nurses, RTs, etc.... when you come across infrequent auscultation findings, you can record them and later play them for your colleagues so that everyone can gain some experience from the unusual presentation. I also love the 'slow play' feature, that lets me slow the playback down to 1/2 speed, to make murmurs easier to evaluate for students.
