I purchased my first scale and really enjoyed it. It was mainly used for trend analysis. I enjoyed it so much that when my daughter needed a scale I bought her one. Within a year or so the display went out. The unit appeared to be functioning, just the display was not working right. I changed batteries with the other scale with no luck. I was upset that I couldn't get Tanita to replace so I used my daughter's scale when she stopped using it. That worked well for another year or so until the display went on the fritz in that unit as well. Great unit during it's life cycle. Good for trend analysis. Expensive to use especially since the units don't last more than a year or two. This pedometer measures steps, miles, km, and calories. There is no way to calibrate for your step length so the last three measurements are averages. This is why I gave it only 4 stars. To be fair, I knew that it wouldn't have that option when I bought it, but it is a minor shortcoming.
I found the steps to be pretty accurate. I did a test of 200 steps and it was off by 6 steps. It could have been when I bent down to pick up the paper, but that's only 3%, which is 300 steps in a 10,000 step day.

I love that it has a cover and doesn't reset accidentally. The belt clip is very sturdy and won't come off. I've even carried it in the 5th pocket of my jeans and gotten great results. The way the cover comes off while it's on your belt let's you easily see your step count with out taking it off.

I got this watch as a gift to help with a strength training plan I started last fall to lose weight. I love the fact that it is SO simple to use. After the one time setup, just switch to calorie mode, hit reset, hit start, and you're off. After each circuit, I do a quick check of my heart rate by pressing the two bars (top and bottom). You get a quick response of heart rate and % of max, and it's instant feedback for how well you are doing or warns if you're overdoing it. The calorie counter is excellent. It really works. Together with an easy 20%Fat-60%Carb-20%Protein plan, I have since learned my exact calorie break-even point, and based on calories-in minus calories-burned, I can now predict with a fair degree of accuracy how much weight I will lose each week. Wow! I have never been able to do that on any diet or exercise plan before, so for that alone, it is a phenomenal aid. The instant feedback is constantly encouraging. (BTW, I have 120+ lbs to lose, 20 down so far, so this isn't a review by a top fit person working to shed 3 lbs on their already perfect 6-pack abs.) I have never felt so motivated before. I am loving this watch.

OK, it isn't perfect though. Used at night (running, walking, etc.), the LIGHT function goes out after 1-2 seconds. So you have to check your heart rate in darkness, keep your fingers there for a few seconds, then quickly press the light function and read FAST. I don't do that much, so it's no big deal for me. And I wish there was a quick button to automatically switch to chronometer mode and start a 1 minute countdown for recovery between circuits. You have to switch modes to do that... easy enough, I guess you can memorize the sequence of buttons, but hey I'm lazy (which somewhat explains the 120+ lbs I have to lose). However, I've realize that its easy to just use the calorie timer to figure out when 60 seconds have passed - duh.

But neither one is a deal breaker or makes it worth spending an extra $25 or more.

As simplicity goes and as a great tool for feedback, I would highly recommend this watch.

BTW, one person complained it didn't always read... I found that if you make the band too tight on your wrist, it can do that. Loosen it by one notch. It has never failed to read in that case. I suspect when it's too tight, it's probably like trying to life weights while getting your blood pressure taken. It needs to be a relaxed fit to take the best reading. After researching on what type, brand & model of thermometer to buy I decided on the Braun IRT 4520. The price on Amazon was $69.00. I always compare Amazon's prices to prices elsewhere and in my experience Amazon is not always comparable or cheaper. I checked online at Walgreens and Wallmart and neither had this product, did a web search and found that Target had this same product for $38.79 online and was also available in the store. Went to my local Target ,first time in a Target, and they had it for $38.79, come on Amazon the $30.21 difference is 44%.

I read the 2 & 3 star reviews and temp will vary from ear to ear, time of day and what you have been doing prior to taking temp. Also normal temp will vary from person to person, you have to establish your own baseline when you are healthy.

I took my temp 4 times in a 1 hour period and all were with-in 0.2 degrees, same for my wife, her normal temp was a little different than mine.

This is an excellent product and recommend you buy it, just not on Amazon, shop around.
