This product is the same model sold by Sharper Image and Bally Total Fitness. The Sharper Image version is blue and the Bally version is red.

There is no problem turning off the music using the top right button. The other reviewer is completely wrong about this function. You can hear the pedometer say "music on" and "music off", which should be obvious.

You must be extrememly careful when changing the battery. I have gone through 3 Sharper Image models and of course that company is no longer in business. Each time I had to replace the pedometer was after changing the battery. When changing the battery, it is easy to break the fragile part which holds the battery in place. If you break it, then the pedometer will malfunction.

The stethoscope isn't what I expected. You can hardly hear anything, you really have to strain to hear a heartbeat or pulse. I suppose it's worth what you pay, not much. You can hear more using the small, infant side of the stethoscope, but as far as the adult side, if you breath or move in anyway, you can not hear a thing. I don't like electronic gizzmo's when it comes to blood pressure, hence the purchase of this blood pressure cuff. Using this cuff, 4 different people using 3 different stethoscopes could not hear the heartbeat. Asking to return the product to the seller, I was sent to the manufacturer, who told me that there was nothing wrong with their product, but they'd look at it, at my expense. Cheapest Freestyle Tracer Pedometer (Blue)

In 2002 I was doing a lot of walking for excercise. To track my progress I bought the Freestyle Tracer. Once I calibrated my step length it worked fine. At one point I used a GPS to plot my 3 mile route statistics (ie. distance, time). I re-calibrated my step length to the GPS measurements and again, it worked perfectly day after day. My route step count was always less than a .5% error. What also amazed me was time after time besides using the Freestyle I'd use my wrist-watch stopwatch too. The Freestyle was always 100% accurate (down to the second!) as to time moving whether I walked 30 minutes or an hour.

Fast forward 9 years. I'm walking again. Found my Freestyle (original battery was still working enough to see numbers VERY dimly), put in new battery, shook it and banged lightly it against the counter a few times, reset everything and, Wah-lah! Its working perfectly again. The time moving counter is still 100% accurate.

In all these years the belt hook has served me well, and still does.

I got this pedometer at a store because its design was appealing, and pedometers can provide a lot of inspiration to exercising right. Now, I regret it, because its many cons have made it useless as a worthy tool to track steps.

Pros:

Mainly, the looks and design. Not only does this pedometer look cool, but its design is beneficial as well. It's so thin, that you can just slip it into a sock, or put it in a small, tight pocket. The sleek gray color and location of the buttons make it look cool, too. The design of this pedometer make it much more visually appealing than other pedometers, but...

Cons:

The fatal flaw of this pedometer is its inaccuracy. It's so sensitive that it easily records steps to your slightest movements even when you're sitting still or down. Unintentionally moving around in a pocket triggers the oversensitive sensor as well. Even the action of putting it in your pocket to start the day triggers four or five steps. I've found that this pedometer sometimes records TWICE the amount of steps as another more reliable one that I bought after this one.

Surface is a bit too weak and prone to minor scratches, fingerprints, and dents. I find that the surface of this pedometer is a bit weak. It's prone to scratching and little dents if you abuse it too much or over-clean it. This is not really a big issue, but I thought I might point it out anyway. It attracts fingerprints and if you press too hard on the wrong part of the device, you'll get one of those irreversible little dents. I did this accidentally when pressing and missing one of the buttons (oops!).

Price. Seriously, the price on this pedometer is just incredibly ridiculous. For such a poor product, the price is just crazy.
